lists the
average accuracy of pollsters in the January 3, 2012 Iowa Republican
Presidential Caucus using the measure
of polling accuracy
proposed
by Martin, Traugott, and Kennedy. Because of the close finish,
three ballot match-ups were used to determine the average accuracy
- Romney/Santorum, Romney/Paul, and
Santorum/Paul.

There are no differences at the
95% confidence interval between pollsters, however:
- The Public Policy Polling survey was
the only survey to incorrectly show Ron Paul, the third place
finisher, as the winner.
- The accuracy measures for the Romney/Santorum
and the Santorum/Paul match-ups in the Des Moines Register survey fall outside the 95% confidence
intervals.
- The accuracy measures for the Romney/Santorum
and the Romney/Paul match-ups in the We Ask America survey fall outside the 95% confidence
intervals.
- The accuracy measure for the Santorum/Paul
match-up in the Rasmussen survey falls outside the 95% confidence interval.
