In a survey with over half of the interviews completed before Rick Santorum suspended his campaign, Mitt Romney leads the Pennsylvania Republican presidential primary with 44%. Romney is followed by Santorum with 40%, Newt Gingrich with 7%, and Ron Paul with 5%.

Romney leads Santorum 44% to 39% among likely Republican primary voters interviewed on April 9 and Romney leads Santorum 44% to 41% among likely Republican primary voters interviewed on April 10.

Santorum leads with 42% among likely Republican primary voters saying they are supporters of the Tea Party, followed by Romney with 34%, Gingrich with 15%, and Paul with 5%. Among likely primary voters saying they are not supporters of the Tea Party or are undecided about the Tea Party, Romney leads with 52%, followed by Santorum with 38%, Paul with 5%, and Gingrich with 1%.

Romney leads among men with 44%, followed by Santorum with 37%, Paul with 8%, and Gingrich with 7%. Romney leads Santorum 44% to 43% among women, followed by Gingrich with 7% and Paul with 2%.

About this Survey -

Survey Sponsor: American Research Group, Inc.

The American Research Group has been conducting surveys of voters since 1985.

Sample Size: 600 completed telephone interviews among a random sample of likely Republican primary voters living in Pennsylvania (600 registered Republicans). A total of 329 interviews were completed on April 9 and 271 were completed on April 10.

Sample Dates: April 9-10, 2012

Margin of Error: ± 4 percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion is evenly split. An "*" in the tables indicates responses of less than 1/2 of 1 percent.
